Former Wisconsin running back Eddie Faulkner is expected to leave his position as running backs coach with the Pittsburgh Steelers to take the same position with the Baltimore Ravens, according to the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Faulkner played for the Badgers from 1996-2000, appearing in 39 total games and tallying 1,008 yards and seven touchdowns on 255 carries. He shared a backfield with college football great Ron Dayne for four of those five seasons.
The Muncie, Indiana, native then joined the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent entering the 2001 NFL season, though he did not make the team’s active roster. He went on to play one season in the Canadian Football League.
Faulkner joined the coaching ranks in 2002 at the high school level, before spending the 2003 and 2004 seasons at Ball State as a graduate assistant. He was promoted to running backs coach in 2005, a position he held with the program until 2010, also adding offensive coordinator duties for the last two of those seasons. Following one year as running backs coach at Northern Illinois and one in the same position under Paul Chryst at Pittsburgh, Faulkner returned to the Badgers as their tight ends coach in 2012. He then wrapped up his college coaching career as tight ends coach at NC State from 2013-18.
The former Badger has since spent the last seven seasons as the Steelers’ running backs coach, helping to develop players including James Conner, Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren.
