The Cincinnati Bengals come up semi-often with former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
This time, Roethlisberger has the Bengals on the mind in the wake of the Steelers hiring former Cincinnati defender Domata Peko to fill a spot on the coaching staff.

During an episode of his podcast, Roethlisberger slipped in a shot at the Bengals while declaring that Peko was one of the good guys in Cincinnati.
“When you went to Cincinnati, you knew you were gonna be sore because of the cheap shots. This guy was not one. This guy was a guy that you respected. He respected the game, he respected the players, so I have a lot of respect for him. I think that’s a great pickup for them.”

The irony, of course, is Roethlisberger and other former Steelers players implying that the vicious rivalry was a one-sided thing.

This is a common thing on Big Ben’s podcast, though. Back in 2022, he expressed being “almost fearful” of playing the Bengals because of their dirty play. Just last year, he suggested a conspiracy theory about the Bengals’ jersey colors and field painting playing a role in the outcome of a game.
Regardless, Peko joining the Steelers will, unfortunately, have Bengals fans feeling some type of way. Big Ben’s comments, though, won’t move the needle much, given the consistency.
