The Denver Broncos have been named a surprise landing spot for Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker as free agency approaches.
With J.K. Dobbins set to hit the open market and coming off yet another injury-shortened year, several analysts believe the Broncos may pivot toward a more explosive option to pair with rookie RJ Harvey.
According to Pro Football Focus analyst Mason Cameron, Denver stands out as an ideal fit for Walker, who is projected by Spotrac to command a contract worth roughly $33 million.
The combination of Walker’s production, age, and versatility has quickly placed him among the most intriguing running backs on the market.
Kenneth Walker is an Intriguing Fit in Denver
Walker’s resume speaks for itself.
Since entering the league in 2022, he owns a 93.9 Pro Football Focus rushing grade, the second-highest mark in the NFL over that span behind only Derrick Henry.
His ability to create on his own has separated him from most backs.
Walker has forced 243 missed tackles, the third-most in the league during that timeframe.
“What makes Walker such a good fit is his ability to produce regardless of scheme,” Cameron wrote.
“Over his four NFL seasons, Walker has earned a 90.0-plus rushing grade in both gap and zone concepts.”
That versatility matters in Sean Payton’s offense, which values backs who can adapt to different looks.
Walker also delivered one of his most complete seasons in 2025, playing all 17 games for the first time in his career.
This is the type of durability the Broncos desperately need.
Walker has exploded in the playoffs this year, totaling 178 rushing yards, 78 receiving yards, and four touchdowns in two games.
Broncos Have Flexibility to Make a Splash at Running Back
Denver’s financial situation only strengthens the case.
The Broncos are projected to have roughly $28 million in cap space.
With few glaring holes on the roster, they can afford to be aggressive if they believe a move significantly upgrades the offense.
While Walker has dealt with injuries earlier in his career, Denver wouldn’t need to lean on him as a true workhorse.
With Harvey expected to have a steady role, especially in the pass game, Walker could stay fresh while giving the Broncos the explosiveness they’ve lacked out of the backfield.
Walker’s playoff experience also adds to his appeal.
He has delivered in high-pressure moments and has shown he can be a difference-maker in the postseason.
For a Broncos team trying to add more weapons around Bo Nix, Walker would bring instant explosiveness to the offense.
He would definitely be viewed as an upgrade over Dobbins, but his price could climb even more if he puts together a strong Super Bowl performance.
