Derek Carr addresses shoulder injury for first time during church service in Las Vegas

  • April 28, 2025

LAS VEGAS (WVUE) – Saints quarterback Derek Carr briefly broke his silence and addressed his ongoing shoulder injury that could have him sidelined into next season.

Much has remained unclear about the extent of Carr’s injury, but it’s been reported since earlier this month that he could miss next season. The quarterback is reportedly weighing his options, which could include surgery.

Since news of his injury came to light, Carr has not addressed the situation until Sunday (April 27) while speaking at a church service for Church LV. He acknowledged the injury and expressed frustration towards media members and fans questioning his injury situation.

“I hate that I have to say this, but I have to say this,” Carr said to the congregation. “Yes, I have a shoulder injury, despite what ESPN says and what a lady on a podcast might think. I have an MRI report to prove it. The team knows about it. We’ve been in constant communication. There’s nothing wrong, we’re figuring it out, and we’re going to go forward with that. Is that okay? I’ve been dealing with people lying about me. I’ve been dealing with people saying this and that. I’m like, Lord, why do I have to continue to deal with this nonsense?”

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Friday (April 25) that Carr was dealing with a shoulder injury that threatens his availability for the upcoming season.

Rapoport also said Carr was weighing his options, including the possibility of surgery.
