New Orleans Saints legendary quarterback Drew Brees was officially announced as a 2026 Pro Football Hall of Famer on Thursday night, and the congratulations were in order.
Saints edge rusher Cam Jordan was among Brees’ former teammates posted a message on X.
“Breezy first ballot!!!” Jordan posted with a graphic of an old quote he had describing Brees as the best quarterback in the NFL.

Former Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas also took to social media to celebrate the moment.
“Drew Brees, what an honor to have had the opportunity to get it in with you,” Thomas posted on X. “The best ever! Congratulations! See you in Canton.”

New Orleans native and sports media personality Stan Verrett shared his sentiments.
“I know I speak for a lot of New Orlenaians when I say no athlete brought us more joy as fans than Drew Brees,” Verrett posted. “Thrilled to see him go to Canton on the first ballot. Gonna be a lotta Whodats in Ohio this summer.”

Fans like Suit Williams also shared their reflections.
“I don’t know if there’s been a more important football player to the city he played in than Drew Brees,” Williams posted. “Living through Katrina, coming back and the city rallying around that man and those teams was more than a game. Congratulations to the man, the honor of First Ballot couldn’t go to a better player.”

Saints fan Joey V also shared the significance of Brees.
“Drew Brees gave an entire team, orginization and city its identity back,” V posted. “Gave it a championship. Gave it so much love. If that doesn’t win you a first ballot spot, I don’t know what will. Absolutely inspirational.”

The Los Angeles Chargers, the other franchise Brees played for, also sent a congratulations video to him. The words of appreciation came from tight end Antonio Gates and running back LaDainian Tomlinson.
“You’re going to be forever immortalized in Canton, Ohio, at the Pro Football Hall of Fame,” Tomlinson said. “And thank you for all that you did for me. All of those offseason workouts. All of those summer workouts. You and I pushing each other. Two kids from the state of Texas in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. That’s incredible, man.”
