Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen did not win back-to-back NFL MVP Awards after taking home the honor in 2024.
Instead, Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford landed the hardware… barely.
And in a way, Allen might have prevented the New England Patriots earning another MVP Award via quarterback Drake Maye.

In the end, Stafford barely edged out Maye. The point system for NFL MVP voting is 10 points for a first-place vote, five for second, three for third, two for fourth, and one for fifth.
In the end, Stafford beat Maye by five points.
Where does Allen factor in?
Well, other candidates for the award aside from Allen, Stafford and Maye earned points too. But if we look at it through a certain lens, Allen stopped a Patriots MVP.
Factoring into Allen’s 91 total points voted for him were two first-place votes. If one of those went to Maye, he would have edged out Stafford as Allen ended up in third place.
