COLUMBUS, Ohio — Northwestern football is set to unveil its new $862 million football stadium, Ryan Field, on Oct. 2 this season when the Wildcats host Penn State.
The team’s first two games will be held at Martin Stadium, a smaller, on-campus stadium where the team has played the majority of its games the last two seasons.
The stadium will hold 35,000 people.
Ohio State and Northwestern played the 2024 game between the two teams at Wrigley Field, as the expected attendance would’ve certainly been too much for Martin Stadium to handle.
The Buckeyes will host the Wildcats this season, but will play at Northwestern in 2027. That game will almost certainly be at the new venue in Evanston, Illinois.
Two former Buckeyes included in massive NBA trade
The Washington Wizards and Dallas Mavericks completed a massive trade on Wednesday, as an eight-player swap was centered around Anthony Davis heading to Washington.
D’Angelo Russell and Malaki Branham swapped sides, as Russell is headed to the Wizards and Branham is headed to the Mavericks.
Russell played just one season for Ohio State in 2014-15, and was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year. He was a Consensus first-team All-American as well.
Branham also played one season at Ohio State from 2021-2022, and was a first-round pick of the Spurs in 2022. He was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and Third-team All-Big Ten. A former Ohio Mr. Basketball winner in 2021, he attended St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron.
