Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix has quickly established himself as one of the NFL’s most successful young quarterbacks.

Since arriving in Denver, Nix has helped pull the franchise out of the AFC West basement, led the Broncos to 25 total wins including the postseason, unseated the Chiefs as division champions, and secured the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

He did all of this by the end of Year 2.

Hall of Fame quarterback and former Super Bowl MVP Kurt Warner offered both praise and blunt advice for Nix.

While speaking with 9NEWS’ Mike Klis at Super Bowl Radio Row, Warner said:

“Overall, we’re talking about a second-year quarterback. I think he’s done some incredible things,” Warner said.

I’m just very impressed with how he’s carried himself,” Warner added.

Warner also pointed to a specific area where he believes Nix can still grow.

He wants to see “just a little more poise and calm in the pocket,” adding that there are “some opportunities out there if he just settles in a little bit more.”

While Warner was clearly impressed by Nix’s production and leadership, he didn’t shy away from identifying the next step in his development.

According to Warner, Nix’s athleticism and comfort playing off-schedule can sometimes work against him.

“He loves to be on the move. He loves his feet moving, which I understand because he’s a great thrower on the run. But sometimes, there’s some opportunities out there in the pocket.”

Warner emphasized that this is a natural stage of development for young quarterbacks, especially those with elite mobility.

The balance between creating and trusting the offense is often what separates good quarterbacks from truly great ones.

“To have his team as the No. 1 seed in his second year, all the comeback wins, I’m just very impressed with how he’s carried himself,” Warner added.

What Comes Next for Nix and the Broncos

As Nix enters Year 3 under head coach Sean Payton, Warner believes mastering the pocket will allow Denver’s offense to reach another level.

Instead of relying on constant improvisation, settling in and letting plays develop could make the game easier.

He also emphasized that it is more sustainable over the course of a full season and could help prevent injury.

“We see it a lot in the league with these athletic quarterbacks,” Warner said.

“They’re very comfortable trying to create. It’s just finding that balance where sometimes you let the offense work for you.”

Warner acknowledged how impressive it was for Nix to reach the AFC Championship Game in just his second season.

However, he also stressed how difficult it is to get back once you’re there.

“He’s very young, and you’d like to think he’ll be back there numerous times,” Warner said. “But it’s not easy to get there.”

With the Broncos bringing back much of their core, the focus now shifts to Nix and whether he can take that next step.
