SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The 2026 Super Bowl teams are set, with the Seattle Seahawks once again facing off against the New England Patriots. Sunday’s game will mark only the second time since 2020 that the Kansas City Chiefs did not play in the NFL’s championship game.  


What happened during last year’s Super Bowl?

Super Bowl 59 in 2025 had a rematch of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. Philadelphia was looking for revenge after the Chiefs beat them for the championship in 2023.

The 2025 Super Bowl saw the Eagles get their revenge, dominating the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22. The Eagles’ Super Bowl win was their second championship since 2018.

The game was a complete domination by Philadelphia. They jumped out to a 34-6 lead in the third quarter before the Chiefs scored 16 points in garbage time.



What happened the last time the Seahawks played the Patriots in the Super Bowl?

The 2026 matchup between the Seahawks and the Patriots is a rematch of Super Bowl XLIX in 2015, when the Patriots overcame a 10-point deficit and intercepted a pass by Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson at the goal line with 20 seconds remaining.
