A year ago this week, it looked like Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns were headed for a divorce.

Garrett publicly requested a trade out of Cleveland last February, adding some early juice to the 2025 offseason.

However, the Browns were able to change Garrett’s mind after throwing a whopping $123.5 million guaranteed at him in a new contract and his trade demand vanished.

While the comparison isn’t exactly accurate, Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua compared Garrett to Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.

“It’s like, ‘Oh, I don’t want to be here.’ And then, ‘Hey, look, I’m back, guys,’” Nacua joked on The Pat McAfee Show.

The problem with this comparison is that Antetokounmpo never publicly requested a trade, although a report from ESPN’s Shams Charania hinted he might have done so privately.

“Two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo is ready for a new home at the Feb. 5 NBA trade deadline or in the offseason as several rival teams make aggressive offers to the Milwaukee Bucks for him, and the franchise is starting to listen, league sources tell ESPN,” Charania said.

Antetokounmpo did reaffirm his commitment to the franchise once the deadline passed despite all the smoke around a possible trade.

Meanwhile, Garrett once again cemented himself as the best defensive player in the NFL after a record-breaking season that saw him tally 23 sacks, the most in a single season in league history, and win the AP Defensive Player of the Year award.
