We all knew that upon Jakobi Meyers’ arrival, he made a quick impact on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ offense. But I’m not sure we realized just how quick it was.
As head coach Liam Coen described while on the ‘Pat McAfee Show’ recently, Meyers’ impact was immediate — as in the first practice he was a part of.
“Our first practice with Jakobi Meyers, we were a better team,” Coen said. “The first practice Jakobi came in, our pass game looked completely different. The whole team was like, ‘What?’ For real. It just changed because it allowed BT to do what he does well, Parker to do what he does well, now, Brenton Strange does what he does well, and Trevor had a lot of trust and respect in him.”
Meyers’ skill set makes him a terrific fit for the Coen offense. He can be moved around pre-snap, while in the passing game Meyers is comfortable and effective attacking the middle and intermediate parts of the football field — not to mention that he’s a willing run blocker as well.
Having that presence in the offense who can handle those important roles then frees up the other Jaguars‘ pass-catchers, as Coen mentioned.

So, going beyond Meyers’ individual production, his impact is multifaceted as he makes those around him better.
It’s easy to see why the Jaguars were so quick to sign Meyers to an extension.
