Tom Brady and his seven Super Bowl rings recently made waves when he declined to pick a “dog in the fight” in this year’s Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.

“I don’t have a dog in the fight in this one,” Brady, who won six of those rings with the Pats, said on the “Let’s Go!” Sirius XM podcast with Jim Gray.

“May the best team win.”

Cowboys fans: Take comfort in knowing that if Dallas ever somehow made it back to the Super Bowl (we know you have to suspend reality a bit to envision this, but try), legendary quarterback Troy Aikman would fully be rooting for his former team to pull it off.

Aikman assured “The Musers” of that in his weekly appearance on Sportsradio 96.7 FM/1310 The Ticket (KTCK-AM).

“I think Tom kinda got caught trying to be neutral,” Aikman said. “It’s funny, I was just thinking about this: If the Cowboys were in the Super Bowl, there’s no question I would be rooting for the Cowboys.”

The tricky part for Aikman, though: What if he was broadcasting the game, as he is for the Big One on Sunday on ESPN?

“The hard thing that I would have is if I was calling the game,” Aikman explained. “Of course, Tom is not calling [Sunday’s Super Bowl], but if I was calling the game, let’s say next year and Dallas is in the Super Bowl. If I’m asked during the week, ‘Hey, are you rooting for the Cowboys?’ I mean, that’s a hard one to answer.”

Other than that particular scenario, though, Aikman says it’s an easy question to answer, and the Cowboys would have his full allegiance.

It’s a problem Aikman and a whole bunch of Cowboys fans would probably love to have.
