The Philadelphia Eagles may be headed toward a much different-looking offensive line in 2026, and that uncertainty has reignited calls for a familiar reunion.
As reports swirl that former Eagles lineman Mekhi Becton is expected to be released by the Los Angeles Chargers, fans and analysts are pointing back to Philadelphia as the most logical landing spot.
“Let’s get Mekhi Becton back,” wrote Eagles analyst Thomas R. Petersen on X, echoing a sentiment that has quickly gained traction among the fanbase.
Becton’s name resurfacing comes at a pivotal moment for the Eagles.
With multiple longtime fixtures on the offensive line facing uncertain futures, the idea of bringing back a proven, familiar piece is becoming a real possibility.
Eagles Offensive Line Could Look Very Different in 2026
Becton’s candidacy becomes even more compelling given the growing uncertainty around the rest of the Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive line.
According to multiple reports, Landon Dickerson and Lane Johnson both could retire this offseason.
Dickerson battled injuries throughout the 2025 season, dealing with ankle, calf, knee, and back issues after already missing most of training camp following a knee procedure.
At locker clean-out day after the Eagles’ playoff loss to the 49ers, the three-time Pro Bowler reportedly didn’t sound optimistic about returning to full health.
Jeff McLane added that Dickerson “may be even more of a question mark” than Lane Johnson, a sentiment later corroborated by Mike Garafolo.
While Dickerson signed a four-year extension in 2024, his lengthy injury history has once again put his long-term outlook into question.
On the other hand, Johnson’s Lisfranc foot injury sidelined him late in the 2025 season, with the severity of the midfoot sprain and the possibility of offseason surgery raising real questions about his ability to return in 2026.
After already losing Jeff Stoutland, the Eagles offensive line room could undergo a total reset.
Why a Becton Reunion Makes Sense for Philadelphia Eagles
Mekhi Becton’s resurgence with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024 reshaped the trajectory of his career and played a meaningful role in Philadelphia’s Super Bowl run.
After years of injuries and inconsistency earlier in his career, the former first-round pick transitioned to guard and started for the Philadelphia Eagles.
That success wasn’t lost on Becton himself.
He openly spoke about his growth in Philadelphia, crediting the Eagles’ organization for helping him reset both physically and mentally.
However, Becton’s stint with the Chargers in 2025 told a different story.
While he started 14 games at right guard, his season was disrupted by multiple health issues.
He had a knee injury in training camp, a concussion, and an illness that caused him to miss time.
Becton’s overall 2025 season was a disaster by PFF’s metrics.
He posted a 35.7 overall grade that placed him 79th of 81 qualified guards.
His run blocking (62.7% win rate, 63rd in the league) collapsed compared to his time in Philadelphia.
That uneven season and a $12.2 million cap hit have put Becton on the bubble in Los Angeles.
If he’s released, a return to Philadelphia makes sense, especially with the Eagles facing major questions along the offensive line.
