The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off one of the more notable collapses in NFL history.

After starting the season 6-2 and looking like a team you could pen in as the NFC South winner, the Bucs lost seven of their last nine games to finish 8-9 and missed the postseason altogether. This brought on several coaching changes, and certainly puts Todd Bowles on the hot seat going into 2026. A great way for the Bucs to get back to the postseason would be to land an impact player on the defensive side of the ball. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler,Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby could be on the move.
“What has been made clear to me: Crosby wants to be a part of a winner,” Fowler writes. “That’s the priority. Whether and how that’s conveyed is still unclear. He has been fiercely loyal to Las Vegas. That loyalty will be tested more than ever in the coming weeks. The reality is the Raiders are still far away from significant winning, and the trade interest in Crosby is incredibly robust. In fact, I believe more than a dozen teams, possibly up to 20, will at least inquire with levels of serious intent. And there are some natural would-be contenders, including the Bills, Lions, 49ers, Cowboys and Ravens.”
Fowler adds that a dark horse team to keep an eye on is the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
“One team that typically doesn’t jump in these high-stakes waters but would be perfect to try: the Buccaneers. This is the type of move that would put Tampa Bay over the top.”

Considering the dip in success in 2025 after multiple postseason appearances under Baker Mayfield in the post-Tom Brady era, Tampa taking a big swing wouldn’t be out of character, and could be where Crosby winds up.
