Keenan Allen and the Los Angeles Chargers couldn’t get it done in the NFL playoffs. Their season ended in the wild-card round with a 16-3 loss to Drake Maye and the New England Patriots.
While the season didn’t end with a Lombardi Trophy, Allen put together solid numbers. He appeared in all 17 games, racking up 81 receptions for 777 yards and four touchdowns on 122 targets.

After a one-year stop with the Chicago Bears, he returned to the Chargers, where he has played 12 of his 13 seasons. Among the franchise’s leaders, he has the most receptions (985), second-most yards (11,307) and third-most touchdowns (63).

He will be 34 years old when the 2026 season begins, which has sparked speculation about his retirement. While speaking with Zach Gelb of 365 Sports, Allen was asked whether he plans to play next season.
“Absolutely, my body feels good, healthy,” Allen said. “You know, being in the locker room around guys like Ladd [McConkey] and Justin [Herbert] … it keeps me young and able to do what I’m supposed to do.”

Despite an expiring contract, the six-time Pro Bowler was adamant that he would be returning to the Chargers. Allen stated, “100 percent,” when asked if he intends to stay in Los Angeles.
He could take less money to stay with the Chargers. If not, though, his Spotrac market value of $6.8 million annually still isn’t too steep for a veteran putting up solid production.
The Chargers are one of 12 teams to have never won a Super Bowl. However, Allen appears ready to return in 2026 for a 14th season to help change that.
