With Drake Maye losing in Super Bowl LX, former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger still holds the record for youngest quarterback to ever win the Super Bowl.

The Steelers long-time quarterback was hoping to see Maye break his record.

“He’s got a chance to break my youngest quarterback record that’s been running for a long, long time now,” Roethlisberger said on FS1’s First Things First. “I’m rooting for it. I’m rooting for him.”

Roethlisberger broke the record in Super Bowl XL, when he led Pittsburgh to its fifth Super Bowl win at 23. Maye is also 23, but he would’ve passed him for the record as he is 178 days younger than Roethlisberger.

The two franchises are still tied for the most Super Bowl wins at six and Roethlisberger didn’t want to see them pull ahead.

“I’m not rooting for the Patriots because then they pass the Steelers in the list of most Super Bowls,” Roethlisberger continued. “So I’m torn there.”

Maye struggled mightily in his first Super Bowl, completing 27 of 43 passes (62.8%) for 295 yards with two touchdowns, two interceptions, and a passer rating of 79.1. He also fumbled on a sack, which resulted in a scoop and score by Seahawks linebacker Uchenna Nwosu that iced the game at 29-7.

The Patriots’ 51 yards of total offense in the first half was the second-fewest for a team in the Super Bowl this century. Only the Kansas Chiefs (23 yards) against the Philadelphia Eagles last year had fewer.
