ROCKFORD, Ill. — Two NFL legends and Super Bowl champions were under one roof in Rockford on Sunday night, bringing one of football’s oldest rivalries to the Hard Rock Casino.
Chicago Bears Hall of Famer Dan Hampton and former Green Bay Packers standout Frank Winters attened the Hard Rock Casino Super Bowl Watch Party, drawing fans from both sides of the historic Bears–Packers divide.
The rivalry between Chicago and Green Bay is one of the longest-running in NFL history.
Hampton was part of the legendary 1985 Chicago Bears team that secured a Super Bowl title, while Winters helped lead the Packers to a championship during his career in Green Bay.
“It’s the oldest rivalry in the NFL, and it looks like this tradition is going to continue for years on,” Winters said. “Playing in the NFC North is a tough division, and you’ve got to bring your game every week.”
Hampton didn’t hold back when discussing the Bears’ current outlook.
“Guess what? The Bears are back on top of the NFC North,” Hampton said. “All the other teams have a lot of issues. Right now, the Bears are in the driver’s seat. Nobody really saw that coming.”
Fans at the event had the rare opportunity to hear directly from two champions who helped define one of the NFL’s most iconic matchups, proving that even decades later, the Bears-Packers rivalry still delivers.
