The New England Patriots’ lopsided Super Bowl loss didn’t just frustrate fans; it reopened a wound for the Denver Broncos.
As the Seattle Seahawks dominated New England on the sport’s biggest stage, Broncos players, former players, and analysts flooded social media with reactions.
They believed Denver belonged on that stage, and likely would have been there if not for injuries.
Former Broncos safety T.J. Ward put it bluntly while watching Drake Maye and the Patriots offense struggle:
“This yall MVP candidate Drake Maye? Gimme Bo Nix 10 out of 10 times.”
That sentiment quickly caught fire as Denver voices piled on.
Broncos safety James “P.J.” Locke III admitted the game was tough to stomach.
“This game is making me even more sick to my stomach that we lost. ‘Cry me a river?’ Yes I am! Lol”
Even Broncos star Patrick Surtain II chimed in, posting a single thinking-face emoji that many interpreted as a quiet nod to what might have been.
Broncos Voices React to Patriots’ Super Bowl Collapse
Analyst and Broncos practice squad quarterback Ben DiNucci summed up the feeling many in Denver shared as the game slipped further out of reach for New England.
Hard not to imagine what a healthy Broncos team looks like vs this Seattle team
“Hard not to imagine what a healthy Broncos team looks like vs this Seattle team.”
That idea kept surfacing throughout the night, with health being the key factor.
Melvin Gordon’s post cut straight to the point as well:
“Denver’s supposed to be in this game,” he said.
It was a simple statement, but one that echoed a belief shared across Broncos Country as many reflected on how close Denver was to being there.
“That Should’ve Been Us” Feeling Lingers in Denver
Longtime Broncos reporter Ryan Koenigsberg captured the emotional core of the moment in a post that resonated deeply across Broncos Country.
“Starting to fully set in that the Broncos were really gonna win this s*** with a healthy Bo Nix. Pain.”
Broncos safety Ja’Quan McMillian added to the chorus of reactions with a simple post:
“Smh…”
The reactions made it clear that the frustration ran deeper than simple disappointment.
Denver didn’t see this Super Bowl as out of reach; they saw it as an opportunity that slipped away due to injury.
Watching the Patriots struggle only reinforced how close the Broncos felt to being there themselves.
That sense of urgency now carries into the offseason, where Denver knows it has a real chance to build on what it started.
With the right moves, the Broncos expect this frustration to turn into motivation and a return to this stage again soon.
