The Seattle Seahawks are world champions. The winner of the NFC West, who beat the Arizona Cardinals twice in the regular season, capped their magical season with a 29-13 victory over the New England Patriots in Super Bwol LX on Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.

The Seahawks are world champions in just the second season under head coach Mike Macdonald. Macdonald led the Seahawks to a 10-7 season in 2024, but they missed the playoffs.

In 2025, they went 14-3, won the NFC West and were the No. 1 seed in the NFC. They knocked off two NFC West teams — the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams — to get to the Super Bowl and now are champions.

Seahawks running back Ken Walker was the Super Bowl MVP, rushing for 135 yards on 27 carries, but the defense was who dominated. Seattle’s defense held the Patriots to only 10 first downs before the final two possessions of the game, forced eight punts, picked off Patriots quarterback Drake Maye twice, sacked him six times and scored a defensive touchdown.

Seattle never trailed in the game.

Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold passed for 202 yards and a touchdown. He did not turn the ball over. He is now a Super Bowl champion after two consecutive 14-win seasons. He has turned his career around over the last two seasons after years of looking like a bust. He became the first quarterback from the 2018 draft class to win a Super Bowl, a class that includes Lamar Jackson, Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen.

Now the Seahawks will undergo changes. Offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak will be the next head coach for the Las Vegas Raiders. Walker will be a free agent.

But the Seahawks did what the Cardinals hope they can do with their new coaching staff — turn things around and complete quickly.

The Seahawks have gone 24-10 in two seasons under Macdonald.
