Ole Miss standout quarterback Trinidad Chambliss
After an impressive run with the Ole Miss Rebels during the 2025 college football season, standout quarterback Trinidad Chambliss will be taking his talents to the 2026 NFL Draft.
Chambliss attempted to have another year of college eligibility, but was denied in those attempts. Now, he’ll head off to the NFL and try to carve out a career for himself there.
Throughout the course of the 2025 season with Ole Miss, Chambliss ended up completing 66.1 percent of his pass attempts for 3,937 yards, 22 touchdowns, and just interceptions. He also ran for 527 yards and eight more touchdowns.
Behind his leadership, the Rebels were able to make a run in the College Football Playoff. Even after head coach Lane Kiffin decided to leave the team for LSU just before the playoff, Ole Miss remained competitive and was without a doubt a legitimate championship contender.
With that being said, Chambliss’ future in the NFL is unknown. Where he could end up in the NFL Draft remains a big question mark. A new head-turning prediction has been made for him with the draft just over two months away.
Ole Miss Star Trinidad Chambliss Lands New NFL Draft Prediction
The Athletic’s Nick Baumgardner released a new 2026 mock draft following the conclusion of the Super Bowl. In that mock draft, he predicted that Chambliss would be drafted by the New York Jets with the first pick of the second round at No. 33 overall.
“Plenty have asked why Chambliss, a legit NFL Draft prospect for 2026, fought the NCAA so hard for another year of college eligibility. Part of the answer: because he’s good enough that he potentially could have been in the 2027 draft’s QB1 mix,” Baumgardner wrote.
“He might not be ready just yet, but the team that takes him will be hoping he becomes this year’s Jaxson Dart.”
Despite only having one year of high-level college football experience, the talent and potential that Chambliss possesses was on full display. He may not be ready to be an NFL starter during his rookie season, but the sky is the limit for the future.
Working with the right professional coaching staff could help Chambliss develop into being a legitimate star at the NFL level.
How Would Trinidad Chambliss Fit with the New York Jets?
Landing with the Jets would be a challenging beginning to Chambliss’ NFL career.
Over the years, New York has struggled to develop quarterbacks. Fans are quick to turn on young signal callers. The Jets also haven’t been a contender for quite some time.
However, if they are willing to draft Chambliss and develop him slowly, the fit could make sense. New York will need to avoid the temptation of placing the young quarterback on the field too early. Aaron Glenn and the coaching staff would need to work closely with him, but the fit is there.
At the end of the day, the Jets would offer Chambliss a chance to earn playing time over the next few years. Even if he’s not ready on day one, he could turn into the long-term starter in New York for years to come.
