The Jets have made a pair of hires to their coaching staff per The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt.

These are low level hires as the Jets continue to overhaul their coaching staff. Following the conclusion of his first season, head coach Aaron Glenn replaced a large number of coaches at high and low levels.

Merkle was the quarterbacks coach at Stanford this past season with Reich serving as interim head coach. Prior to that, he spent four years in lower level jobs at Stanford, including stints as a quality control analyst and a graduate assistant.

Booker was with the Cardinals for five years in entry level type roles.

The Jets still have some roles to fill on their coaching staff. The team has hired both coordinators and passing game coordinators on both sides of the ball. The most notable current vacancy is at quarterbacks coach. We don’t know who will be playing quarterback for the Jets in 2026, but that hire will be very important.
