GREEN BAY (WLUK) – The NFL Draft isn’t expected to return to Green Bay anytime soon, but would anything change if it does come back?
FOX 11 recently sat down with Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy for an exclusive interview to reflect on the 2025 NFL Draft for the “FOX 11 Draft 25: Touchdown in Titletown” special that will air Monday at 9:30 p.m. on FOX 11.
The part of the interview being shared on Thursday poses the question to Murphy what he would change if the draft were to return to Titletown.
I think we hit it out of the ballpark. Not only a home run, but it was a grand slam, being completely honest. No. so many people were integral in it. I think one of the things that is really different between the draft in Green Bay and every other city is usually it’s the city itself and the visitors’ bureau that is running and working with the NFL. Here it was the Packers organization. We’re a community owned team and giving back to the community is a priority. It’s hard to imagine something that would be more impactful in terms of giving back to the community than a draft. An event like that where you had 600,000 people. We haven’t seen, we’ll see it in probably a month or two, the economic impact. We estimated it would be $94 million, but that was when it was 250,000 people, so I anticipate it will be much greater. We’re going to see, I think, Green Bay and the entire state of Wisconsin will see the benefits of this for many years to come. People will look at it and say that was pretty impressive what the state of Wisconsin and Green Bay did hosting the draft. As a result, I think you have a lot of people that maybe those summer vacation plans might end up in Wisconsin rather than I don’t know, Hawaii or some of those other places.
FOX 11’s full interview with Murphy will go live on the WLUK-TV FOX 11 YouTube channel on Sunday.
