The Washington Commanders posted a message on their X account right after the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots. The message was clear: it’s on to 2026, using the tagline, “A new journey begins.”
The message and accompanying photo show several players in the tunnel, getting ready to come onto the field. Quarterback Jayden Daniels, wide receiver Terry McLaurin and running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt were in the center of the photo.
So, what stood out? The Commanders were wearing their Super Bowl-era uniforms, with the white jerseys. They wore them as alternates for only three games in 2025, but the rumor was they would be permanent in 2026. The message “2026” with the white jerseys makes it clear: the Commanders will be going back to a look that should please fans.
The longstanding rumor is that Washington will also be introducing burgundy jerseys from the same era that look similar to this.
That would mean the jerseys introduced in 2022 as part of the Commanders’ rebrand would be discontinued. It’s uncertain if Washington will keep the black uniforms and helmets as alternates once the Super Bowl-era uniforms become permanent.

There’s one more item prominently featured in Washington’s logo. On the Commanders’ crest, two spears and two stars are featured. The spears appear to be part of Washington’s look going forward. Could this also mean a helmet change?
Here’s a closer look:
It will be interesting to see what Washington moves forward with, but fans should be happy to know that the initial Commanders jersey from the 2022 rebrand is on the way out.
