The New York Giants had a total of seven picks in the 2025 NFL draft, and one of their final picks was used to select Nebraska tight end Thomas Fidone. Fidone was selected in the seventh round with the 219th overall pick, and he joins a tight ends room that includes Theo Johnson, Daniel Bellinger, and veteran Chris Manhertz. After being selected by the Giants, Fidone spoke with reporters about the tight ends room.
“I think they’ve got a really good room,” Fidone said. “Daniel Bellinger and Theo (Johnson), and then they have the vet (Chris Manhertz) who’s been (in the NFL) for a while, all very good guys. And just excited to be able to go in there and put my head down and work and hope to be able to contribute in any way possible.”

Fidone was a four-star recruit coming out of high school and chose Nebraska over offers from Iowa, LSU, and Michigan. After missing his first two seasons with separate knee injuries, Fidone worked his way back to the field and performed well enough to be drafted. When asked what he brings to the table, Fidone didn’t shy away.
“They’re getting an athlete,” he said. “They’re getting a tight end who can do everything. Really good in the route game. Really good in the blocking game. Very physical. I’m a physical player, also a very competitive player. I want to win every rep. They’re getting someone who’s going to strive to be better every day and get 1 percent better every practice and every game, the ultimate competitor.”
Recovering from one knee injury is tough, and recovering from two back-to-back injuries is even tougher. That Fidone made it to the draft is incredible, and shows that he has the steel he needs to be successful in the NFL.
