The idea that the Las Vegas Raiders could trade superstar edge rusher Maxx Crosby this offseason continues to pick up steam.

First, FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer said in the week leading up to the Super Bowl that he believes Crosby has played his last snap with the Raiders.

Now, SportsBoom’s Jason La Canfora reports that Crosby has straight up told the Raiders he doesn’t want to stay.

“He told Tom Brady he will never play for the Raiders again. That’s a fact. He told them he’ll retire before he ever plays for them again,” La Canfora stated. “But, I’m not sure they’re actually going to trade him. Myles Garrett said the same thing last year, and we know how that ended up.”

If Crosby does indeed hit the trade block in 2026, three teams that could pull off a blockbuster trade for him are the Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots.

The Cowboys desperately need to make a splash along the edge this offseason. The loss of Micah Parsons has left a monstrous void in the pass-rush and improving the defense is a major point of emphasis for Dallas in 2026.

We know that the Cowboys inquired about Crosby at least year’s trade deadline, so it’s logical to assume they’ll be in the mix if Las Vegas makes him available.

The Eagles addressed their need along the edge with a trade for Jaelan Phillips prior to last year’s deadline, but Phillips is now a pending free agent and isn’t guaranteed to return.

However, even if he does return, the Eagles still need more help along the edge and we know if there is any general manager who will be aggressive in trying to land star talent, it’s Howie Roseman.

The Patriots are another team that needs more juice along the edge.

Harold Landry is still under contract, but K’Lavon Chaisson is a pending free agent and there’s no telling if he’ll be back. Truth be told, the Patriots should probably go in a different direction, as they simply can’t depend on the former first-round pick repeating what he did in 2025.

Another reason to connect the Patriots and Crosby is the fact that the five-time Pro Bowler has told The Athletic’s Dianna Russini in the past that he’d like to play for head coach Mike Vrabel.

If the Raiders let Crosby pick where he goes, which is very possible given the kind of respect the franchise has for him, we think he’d choose the Patriots over the Eagles and Cowboys.

After all, on top of his desire to play for Vrabel, the Patriots also give Crosby a legit shot to win the Super Bowl. The Eagles have the latter quality, while the Cowboys don’t have either one.
