The Kansas City Chiefs didn’t play in the Super Bowl this season for the first time in a few years, but they could look to sign a freshly-minted Super Bowl champion over the offseason.

The Chiefs will aim to bolster the backfield over the offseason, and perhaps Super Bowl 60 MVP Kenneth Walker III could be a target.

Chiefs named top potential landing spot for Kenneth Walker III

Zachary Pereles of CBS Sports recently named the Chiefs as a top potential landing spot for Walker, who will be hitting free agency after helping the Seahawks claim victory in the Big Game.

In order to make a run at Walker, the Chiefs would need to clear some serious cap space, which could prove difficult, but not impossible with some shrewd maneuvering.

“It’s hard not to include the Chiefs on any list involving running backs. For the second straight season, Kansas City’s backs posted the least explosive rushing rate in the NFL. A lot of good run blocking is going to waste,” Pereles wrote.

“Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco are both free agents, and Patrick Mahomes is coming off a torn ACL. The Chiefs need more explosiveness. Though they must move money around this offseason, they’d be wise to at least throw their hat in the ring.”

Walker would be a nice addition for the Chiefs, who could definitely use an upgrade in the backfield.

However, after his show-stealing performance in the Super Bowl, Walker will likely have no shortage of suitors in free agency, and some of those suitors could potentially have more money to offer than the Chiefs do.

Walker ran the ball 27 times for 135 yards against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl 60. He also caught two passes for 26 yards.
