The Seattle Seahawks produced one of the most dramatic turnarounds in Super Bowl history by fixing the very flaw that plagued them all regular season.

What once looked like a fatal weakness became the foundation of a championship run that rewrote postseason standards.

A stat shared by Adam Schefter captured just how extreme Seattle’s transformation became once the playoffs began.

“Led by Sam Darnold, the Seahawks became the first Super Bowl champion ever to go an entire postseason without committing a turnover,” Schefter wrote.

The achievement was staggering given the stakes of postseason football. Every game intensifies pressure, yet Seattle played mistake-free football across the entire run.

Sam Darnold was at the center of that shift. Long criticised earlier in his career for turnovers, he delivered the most disciplined stretch of football of his professional life when it mattered most.

Seattle’s offense adjusted its identity. Risk was reduced, reads were cleaner, and situational awareness improved week by week. The result was a team that protected the ball at a level never before seen in a Super Bowl run.

Regular season turnover issues made the feat historic

The context behind the achievement made it even more remarkable, as Seattle entered the playoffs with one of the league’s worst ball security records.

“What makes it even more impressive is that Seattle finished the regular season with 28 turnovers, second most in the NFL behind only the Vikings (30),” Schefter added.

Those numbers told the story of a flawed team during the regular season. Interceptions and fumbles repeatedly put the Seahawks behind, raising doubts about their ceiling.

Rather than collapse under those issues, Seattle confronted them directly. Coaching adjustments focused on decision-making, tempo control, and situational discipline.

The contrast was stark. A team that struggled weekly to protect the ball suddenly became flawless against the league’s best competition.

Historically, Super Bowl winners tend to be solid in turnover margin. Seattle went further, achieving perfection where no champion ever had.

For the Seahawks, the lesson was clear. Fix the biggest problem, and everything else can follow.
