It was a disappointing end to the season for the Buffalo Bills. After going 12-5 and securing the No. 6 seed in the playoffs, they lost to the No. 1 seed Denver Broncos 33-30 in overtime in the divisional round.

Failing yet again to win the Super Bowl, Buffalo fired head coach Sean McDermott and promoted offensive coordinator Joe Brady as his replacement. Now that the offseason has begun, the Bills aim to improve their roster.

That includes surrounding quarterback Josh Allen with more talent. Khalil Shakir was the team’s leading receiver last year, racking up 72 receptions for 719 yards and four touchdowns.

To bring in another playmaker, CBS Sports’ Jordan Dajani predicts the Bills will trade for Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson in a story titled “Ten crazy 2026 NFL offseason predictions.”

“Joe Brady’s name popped up on NFL radars in 2019, when he served as the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach at LSU,” Dajani wrote. “The undefeated Tigers had a historical season, which was powered by the play of Joe Burrow, Justin Jefferson and Ja’Marr Chase. Now, he’s the head coach of the Bills, and this offseason, Buffalo makes an aggressive move to pair its new coach with a friend of his — sending the Minnesota Vikings a package of picks for Jefferson.”

Jefferson started all 17 games for the Vikings in 2025, hauling in 84 receptions for 1,048 yards and two touchdowns. He has logged at least 1,000 receiving yards in every season since joining the NFL in 2020.

This is also considered a down year for the wide receiver, hitting career lows in yards and touchdowns. In 2022, he won the Offensive Player of the Year award, leading the league in receptions (128) and yards (1,809) while scoring eight touchdowns.

If the Bills were to facilitate a trade, they would need to be ready for a major financial obligation. Jefferson, 27, is under contract through the 2028 season as part of his four-year, $140 million contract.

While the asking price would be high, bringing in a player like Jefferson could be key to the Bills getting over the hump and winning the Lombardi Trophy for the first time.
