“Pittsburgh typically waits until Day 2 to find receivers, but Concepcion’s playmaking ability after the catch is quite tempting,” Reuter writes regarding the selection of Concepcion for the Steelers. “If Aaron Rodgers returns to reunite with head coach Mike McCarthy, the veteran QB will likely want a reliable companion receiver to DK Metcalf.”

The selection of Concepcion for the Steelers comes one spot after Reuter conducted a trade between the Buffalo Bills and Dallas Cowboys. The Bills jumped the Steelers and landed Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston.

Concepcion, though, is a name that is gaining steam for the Steelers. One recent analyst compared Concepcion to a faster version of Randall Cobb, which should be intriguing for new head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Aaron Rodgers, should Rodgers decide to return to Pittsburgh for a second season.

Following two big seasons at NC State, Concepcion went to Texas A&M last season. The receiver hauled in 61 receptions for 919 yards and nine touchdowns in his lone season there. He also earned All-American honors as a punt returner with 25 returns for 456 yards and two touchdowns.

In our scouting report of Concepcion, Ross McCorkle compared him to Ladd McConkey. McCorkle believes he’s a mid-Day 1 selection, putting him right in line for Pittsburgh.

After selecting Concepcion, Reuther paired the Steelers with Schrauth out of Notre Dame, which is a surprise name.

Across three seasons at Notre Dame, Schrauth played in 32 games, starting 22 for the Fighting Irish. This included 12 in 2024 and all seven he played in during the 2025 season, at left guard. Schrauth was named a second-team All-American this past season and enters the NFL Draft as an underclassman.

Listed at 6-foot-4, 310 pounds, Schrauth would plug a hole at left tackle with Isaac Seumalo set to hit free agency. Though Spencer Anderson would be next in line for the Steelers if Seumalo walked, swinging big on a player like Schrauth would make some sense.

Laughably huge hole, and this is all Billy Schrauth. Talk about moving a DT where he doesn’t want to go. Because the DT is displaced, there’s no one else in the gap.

Following Schrauth, Reuter has the Steelers swinging big in the third round with Allar at quarterback.

He entered the 2025 season as one of the best quarterbacks projected in the class, with the size and tools to be a potential franchise QB in the NFL. But Allar struggled in his final season at Penn State and then suffered a season-ending injury.

Before the injury, Allar really struggled, particularly in big games. He threw a game-ending interception against Oregon early in the season, with Penn State trying to win the White Out game in overtime. His play was a mess against Northwestern, which ultimately led to James Franklin’s firing.

Allar has all the tools and the ideal frame, but the decision-making between the ears and the consistency are major issues. But with Mike McCarthy in the mix as a QB whisperer, Allar could be a reasonable player to take a shot on in the third round under center.

The Steelers could use a downhill thumper at the inside linebacker position, and Lawson could provide that. Lawson is listed at 6-foot-2, 228 pounds and sits in the top 10 all-time in tackles at Alabama. He also served as a two-time captain.

He finished the 2025 season with the Crimson Tide with 89 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks.

Alabama LB Deontae Lawson was a bright spot in the loss to Oklahoma.

The redshirt senior registered five tackles and has piled up some good tape in recent weeks.

Demmings is a new name. He had just 18 tackles last season, but he recorded five pass breakups and four interceptions.

Stephen F. Austin CB Charles Demmings (Rd 5-6):

+ 39.8 passer rating allowed in 2025
+ Ball-tracking ability
+ Scrappy through a WR’s stems
+ Physical at the catch point
+ Aggressive downhill tackler
– Lateral burst
– Ankle bites as tackler

He competed in the Senior Bowl, too, and is listed at 6-foot-1, 191 pounds. That size and ball production profiles well opposite Joey Porter Jr. for the Steelers.
