The Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ offense has talent everywhere you look.
At running back and receiver, you could make the case that Tampa is one of the most stacked offenses in football, yet there is a glaring weakness for Baker Mayfield’s unit.
And that’s tight end.
Yes, Cade Otton has been serviceable, but the Buccaneers don’t have a difference-maker in both the run and pass game.
That could change this offseason as Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku is a free agent, and CBS Sports’ Jared Dubin thinks the Bucs are an interesting spot for Njoku to land.
“The Bucs could lose Cade Otton this offseason, as he is also set to enter free agency,” Dubin writes. “They seemingly have plenty of talent at wide receiver for Baker Mayfield to work with and therefore may not have need for another pass-catcher … but Mike Evans is also a free agent. If one or both players leave, Tampa could look to add a versatile tight who can both block and work in the passing game.”

Do Bucs need Njoku?
That will likely depend on how much they think of Otton, plus Payne Durham and Devin Culp.
With Otton, like Njoku, a free agent, he would likely be a far more cost-effective option for the Buccaneers, plus he already knows the roster.
But Njoku would give Baker a genuine threat in the passing game to go with Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Emeka Egbuka, and Jalen McMillan.
Money will be a factor in this proposed move, but the Buccaneers’ offense is already loaded. Could they afford to upgrade their tight end position?
