The Miami Dolphins have a few massive decisions to make this offseason. While the Tua Tagovailoa cut or trade will be the most important, the future of wide receiver Tyreek Hill is also very much in doubt.

Cutting Hill would save a lot of money, making it the most likely outcome this offseason. Releasing Hill would create a void at wide receiver, making the position a clear top need for this offseason.
PFF.com’s Mason Cameron linked the Dolphins to a free agent wide receiver to fill Hill’s shoes in the offense. Cameron has the Dolphins as the top landing spot for free-agent WR Deebo Samuel, the former San Francisco 49ers All-Pro receiver.
Dolphins named as top landing spot for Deebo Samuel
“Deebo Samuel. Best Landing Spot: Miami Dolphins,” Cameron writes. “… the Dolphins are likely to release Tyreek Hill this offseason to free up cap space… and could look to fill the void with Deebo Samuel.”

Samuel is a veteran wide receiver whose best days might be behind him. He was a former All-Pro and a superstar wide receiver for the 49ers for a while.
But, in 2024, his struggles led him to put up his worst season as a pro, finishing with 670 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 51 receptions. He also had 136 rushing yard sand one touchdown on the ground in a down year.
This past season, he joined the Washington Commanders for a brief pit-stop and put up a solid season with 727 receiving yards and five touchdowns on 72 receptions to go with 75 rushing yards and one touchdown on 17 carries.

His productivity took a dip since his All-Pro season, when he had 1,405 yards with six receiving touchdowns on 77 receptions to go with 365 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on the ground on 59 carries.
Samuel isn’t the player he once was, but he’s still a good option for an offense. And the Dolphins, in moving on from Hill, could use another wide receiver on offense.
Having Waddle, Samuel, and running back De’Von Achane on the same offense would make for a fun group of skill players for the 2026 season.
Reuniting with Bobby Slowik, the new Dolphins offensive coordinator and playcaller, would make for a fun signing this offseason for the Dolphins.
