New Baltimore Ravens head coach Jesse Minter is in the infancy of his head coaching career.
Just 42 years old, he’s a first-time head coach in 2026 and set to try to take the Ravens back to the postseason and, hopefully, deep into the playoffs. He’ll have his work cut out for him — but he’s done very well with one of his first big tests: hiring a staff. Landing former Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver was a quality hire. Declan Doyle was one of the hottest offensive coaches around the league. But the Ravens’ new Special Teams Coordinator? Minter used some extreme networking to pull this one off.
Jesse Minter hires his former player in Baltimore, Anthony Levine Sr., to serve as Special Teams Coordinator
Your new Special Teams Coordinator in Baltimore is none other than Anthony Levine Sr. Levine Sr. was a coaching assistant in 2022, and was back with Baltimore last season as a special teams assistant under John Harbaugh. But you may remember him better from his time in Baltimore as a player, where he posted over 3,100 special teams snaps from 2012 through 2021.
This, of course, includes a four-year stint playing for Minter on the Ravens’ coaching staff. Minter was a defensive assistant in 2017-2018, an assistant defensive backs coach in 2019, and the team’s defensive backs coach in 2020. Levine Sr. was a safety, meaning the coaching duo was a player/coach pairing in Baltimore who shared a position just just a half-decade ago. Life, they say, comes at you fast! Indeed.
Now Levine Sr., just five years removed from the end of his playing career, is being trusted with all phases of special teams by his former position coach. It will be a fascinating subplot to the year ahead. But the good news for Baltimore is that these two obviously have the time on task together to be prepared for whatever tough conversations await on the job.
