A.J. Brown keeps saying the right things publicly, but the trade rumors aren’t going anywhere. Some around the league still think the Philadelphia Eagles could move him this offseason, and the conversation isn’t dying down anytime soon.

NFL analyst Nick Wright recently spoke up on FS1’s First Things First, making the case that the Buffalo Bills should be calling Philadelphia about the star wide receiver.

“There is a scorpion and the frog component to getting in business with A.J. Brown, which is, he has been highly productive and prolific statistically, in both of his NFL stops, and worn out his welcome in both of his NFL stops. One of which, Vrabel was his coach,” Wright said.

“Now, Vrabel seems like what fractured the relationship with him in the front office was trading A.J. Brown. Like, he wanted to keep him. He was fine with it. The front office wanted to move on. So, I don’t put [the Patriots] in desperate mode. I think Buffalo’s kind of desperate. So they, to me, make more sense.”

Most on the panel were leaning toward Mike Vrabel and the New England Patriots as the more likely landing spot, but Wright had his argument. His argument was simple. The Bills need a weapon for Josh Allen right now, and Brown is exactly that kind of player.

Brown has been in Philadelphia for four years and has hit 1,000 receiving yards every single season. At 28, he’s still one of the better receivers in the game.

The Eagles recently wrapped up their offensive coordinator search, naming former Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion to the role for 2026. Brown even talked up the hire during Super Bowl Week, sounding pretty good about where things are headed.

Keeping Brown makes sense for Philadelphia. He’s locked in through 2029 on a three-year, $96 million extension, so this isn’t a contract year situation. Players like him don’t come around often.

That said, Buffalo’s mindset has changed. After parting ways with Sean McDermott, the Bills made it clear that getting results in January is the priority now. General manager Brandon Beane will have to figure out the cap math, Brown carries a $23 million hit, but if the Bills want to make a real move, this is the kind of swing that could change things.

Seeing Brown in a different uniform in 2026 would still be a surprise. But stranger things have happened.
