ESPN has released its 2025 projections, including projected stats for Jacksonville Jaguars’ second-year wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr.
Each offseason, Mike Clay puts together his forecast for each NFL team. Among the individual player projections, he also has win probabilities for each game.
Clay projects that Thomas will put together a very similar season production-wise in 2025 as he did in 2024. This includes Thomas catching 85 of his 134 targets (63.4%) for 1,177 yards and six touchdowns.
For reference, Thomas caught 87 passes last season and totaled 1,282 yards with 10 touchdowns, according to PFF.
Also of note, Clay had Travis Hunter accounting for 73 receptions and 884 receiving yards of his own.
As good as the 2024 season was, offensive coordinator Grant Udinski mentioned earlier this offseason that there is still plenty of growth and potential out there for Thomas.
When it comes to taking that next step, it’s not only about production. In Liam Coen’s offense, we are going to see more of Thomas lining up in the slot and more opportunities to attack different levels of the field and do so in a variety of ways.
This not only creates additional or different opportunities for Thomas, but it can also benefit others within the offense through the attention he draws or mismatches he helps generate.
“I think, obviously the talent’s always been there,” Lawrence said after Monday’s practice, “but I mean the confidence, obviously, off the year he had, and what he’s done. Now he has a full year on his belt where he’s one of the top receivers in the league. I think my confidence in him, seeing him do his thing for a year now, and just you get that one one-on-one, you feel really confident about our guy.”
All of that can help Thomas maximize his abilities, but the additions that the Jaguars made on offense this offseason, which includes bringing in Hunter and Dyami Brown at receiver, along with attempting to improve the running game, can help take some of the attention off him this season as well.
