Pennsylvania native and former Los Angeles Chargers second-round pick Nasir Adderley is ready to return to the NFL.

The defensive back announced on Monday that he wants to return to the National Football League after taking a three-year break.

Adderley abruptly retired from football in March of 2023, when he was only 25 years old.

“It’s now been three years since I left the NFL, and I am extremely happy with my development,” Nasir Adderley said. “Health, family and entrepreneurship were my top priorities, and I’m proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish.”

Adderley spent four years with the Chargers before retiring.

He appeared in 50 games and made 44 starts across those four seasons in the NFL.

“The freedom to manage my own schedule was very important to me, but what I didn’t realize was how much I’d miss having football in my life. The competition, the brotherhood, and just being involved in the game that means so much to me and my family.

“Therefore, I am officially announcing my intention to return to the NFL.”

Adderley started 15 of 16 games for the Chargers the year before he retired, recording 62 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble.

Prior to playing in the NFL, Adderley starred at Delaware, earning all-conference honors back-to-back years in 2017 and 2018.
