The New York Jets have added the final piece to the offensive coaching staff.

NFL Network Insider Mike Garafolo shared on social media that the Jets have hired Bill Musgrave as the new quarterbacks coach.

The #Jets are hiring veteran Bill Musgrave as QB coach, source says. Musgrave has been with the #Browns the last three seasons, serving as QB coach last year.

Musgrave, 58, entered the league as the No. 106 overall pick in the fourth round of the 1991 NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys. The former Oregon product played in the league from 1991 to 1998 as a backup QB.

After his playing career, Musgrave immediately got into coaching. For 27 of his 29 years in coaching, he has either been a quarterbacks coach or an offensive coordinator, primarily at the NFL level.

Most recently, Musgrave has been with the Cleveland Browns for the last three years. The first two years were spent as a senior offensive assistant, and last year he was the team’s quarterbacks coach.

Beat reporter Nick Faria of Jets X-Factor said, “Musgrave is a home run hire as a QB coach to me. Well respected in league circles. Decades of experience. AG’s offensive staff is looking quite solid in Year 2. Makes you wonder what the Jets process was last season after all this.”

“Jets add again to their staff. Musgrave has been a QB Coach or OC in the league the last 25+ years. A veteran name to work with Reich alongside the youth of Seth Ryan in the pass game,” NFL analyst Will Parkinson posted.

“Credible reports that Derek Carr is interested in returning to the NFL and the Jets just hired one of his favorite coaches Bill Musgrave as the QB coach. Could definitely see the Jets show interest in Carr as the veteran bridge QB this season,” Optimistic Jets posted.

Jets Finalize Offensive Coaching Staff

Shortly after the Musgrave news leaked out, the Jets revealed the full offensive coaching staff on social media.

Most of the hires the Jets simply confirmed previous media reports. However, the news of Al Netter getting the assistant offensive line gig was fresh.

By all accounts, Frank Reich, the Jets’ new OC, had full control of his offensive coaching staff.

Netter continued the Stanford to Jets pipeline this offseason. He is 36 years of age and coached the trenches for Frank Reich on the Stanford staff last year. The previous two seasons, he spent as the team’s co-offensive line coach.

“Prior his Cardinal arrival, Netter had a five-year run at Yale where he started as offensive line coach in 2018, was promoted to run game coordinator in 2020, and then finished his time as associate head coach and co-offensive coordinator. From 2015-17, Netter was an offensive graduate assistant coach at Michigan under Jim Harbaugh. An All-North Coast Section T at Cardinal Newman HS (Santa Rosa, CA) in 2006, Netter started 52 games at Northwestern. He was a two-time team captain (2009-10) and three-time All-Big Ten Honorable Mention (2009-11) with the Wildcats,” Jets senior reporter Eric Allen wrote in a press release.

From top to bottom, the Jets hired Reich as OC, Musgrave as QB coach, Alfredo Roberts as the TEs coach, Thomas Merkle was brought in as an offensive assistant and assistant QBs coach, Netter is the assistant O-Line coach, Seth Ryan got the passing game cooridator title, and finally Matthew Sargent was listed as an offensive assistant.
