There’s been a lot of discussion this offseason regarding players and coaches’ future with the Philadelphia Eagles’ organization. Some of the speculation has caused Lane Johnson’s name to pop up.

Will the right tackle call it a career after he missed a chunk of the 2025 season, including the Eagles’ lone playoff game? The legendary Eagles running back LeSean McCoy strongly denies that it will be the case.

McCoy isn’t speculating either. He claims a conversation with Lane Johnson confirmed the right tackle’s return for next season.

“Lane Johnson ain’t going nowhere,” McCoy said confidently. “I talked to Lane, he ain’t going nowhere.”

The 35-year-old might struggle to stay healthy and on the field these days, but there’s no denying the fact that he remains a difference-maker for the Eagles.

Last season, the Eagles had an uncharacteristic year when it came to O-line play. Typically one of the best fronts in the league, the Eagles had to overcome a ton of obstacles, including Johnson’s absence, along with Cam Jurgens and Landon Dickerson’s nagging setbacks.

At this point, Johnson is a question mark at every season’s conclusion. Following the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory in New Orleans last year, Johnson confirmed he would return by getting rewarded with a one-year extension. According to Spotrac, he’s signed with the Eagles through 2028. As long as Johnson wants to return, he’ll have a spot on the right side of the line, protecting Jalen Hurts.

It’s still early, but McCoy is confident that Johnson’s mind is made up. He’ll be back in 2026.
