Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Miles Boykin has announced his retirement. Boykin took to social media Wednesday to share he’s walking away from the game after seven years in the league.

“I’m beyond grateful for the sport of football!” Boykin wrote in the caption of the post. “Thanks to my coaches, teammates, and fans for their support. My family and friends, I appreciate your constant encouragement. This sport has taught me so many lessons and I don’t know where I would be without it! I’m excited for this new chapter in my life and can’t wait to see where it takes me!”

Boykin’s post was accompanied by a slideshow of him playing for the various organizations he spent time with over the years.

His post was met with plenty of well-wishing comments from former teammates like TE Rodney Williams, WR Simi Fehoko, and S Jalen Elliott. Even WR Ben Skowronek, Pittsburgh’s current special teams ace, shared a “respect” GIF in the replies.

A third-round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in 2019, Boykin appeared in 73 games with 25 starts. He spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons with the Steelers, acquired off waivers after Baltimore released him.

Though Boykin caught just five total passes in his two years with the team, he was a special teams ace and excellent gunner on the punt coverage team. In 2022, he registered 10 tackles and in 2023, he recorded five. Boykin was also a plus blocker often used in “big” run game personnel featuring just a single wide receiver.

After leaving Pittsburgh, Boykin bounced around a handful of teams. He spent time with the New York Giants, Chicago Bears, Seattle Seahawks, and even had a stint with the UFL’s Dallas Renegades. But the Steelers were the last NFL time Boykin made a regular appearance for.

He ends his career with 38 catches for 498 yards and seven touchdowns.
