The Giants continue reshaping their offensive brain trust around Jaxson Dart.

New York is hiring former Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan as quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator on John Harbaugh’s staff, according to multiple reports. Callahan had also interviewed for the offensive coordinator job, which went to former Chiefs OC and Bears head coach Matt Nagy.

The result: a staff loaded with quarterback experience now tasked with accelerating Dart’s development in Year 2.

A Staff Built on Quarterback Pedigree

Callahan joins an offensive group that already includes Nagy, senior offensive assistant Greg Roman, offensive line coach Mike Bloomgren and tight ends coach Tim Kelly.

Between them, this group has worked closely with Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Matthew Stafford, Derek Carr and Peyton Manning at various stages of their careers.

Callahan’s background fits that theme. Before his brief and turbulent run as Titans head coach, he built a reputation working with quarterbacks. He coached Stafford in Detroit, Carr in Las Vegas and served as Cincinnati’s offensive coordinator during Burrow’s rise, even though he did not call plays there.

From Tennessee Turmoil Back to QB Development

Callahan went 4-19 as Titans head coach and only 1-5 this season before his mid-October dismissal. Tennessee’s offense scored just 83 points through six games, the franchise’s lowest total through that stretch since 1985.

He eventually handed playcalling duties to quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree before being fired.

Now, he returns to what many consider his strength: quarterback development and passing-game structure.

What It Means for the Giants

The Giants’ quarterbacks room currently includes Dart and veteran Jameis Winston, with Russell Wilson set to hit free agency. Callahan will work directly with Dart while overseeing the passing game under Nagy’s direction. Roman is expected to play a heavy role in designing the run game.

The move aligns with Harbaugh’s vision of surrounding his young quarterback with experienced voices and proven teachers. Whether it becomes “too many cooks in the kitchen” or a collaborative advantage will depend on how the staff blends personalities and ideas.

For now, the message is clear: the Giants are investing heavily in the environment around Dart as they try to turn flashes of promise into sustained production.
