The No. 1 priority for the New York Giants this offseason is giving quarterback Jaxson Dart more weapons in the wide receivers room.

That’s why it makes sense to re-sign Wan’Dale Robinson, a pending free agent who is coming off a career year that showed he has plenty of chemistry with Dart.

However, Robinson could command more than the Giants are willing to pay him. Spotrac projects Robinson will land a four-year, $70 million deal in free agency.

That would be quite a hefty price to pay for a wideout who has just one 1,000-yard season and has never tallied 700 yards or more in any other campaign.

FOX Sports’ Greg Auman predicts the Giants will not keep Robinson and instead he will land with the Tennessee Titans in free agency.

Robinson, 25, is a volume receiver. Only five receivers in the league have more targets in the last two seasons than his 280, and while the other five average 18 touchdown catches in that span, Robinson has just seven. So he’s coming off a 1,014-yard season with 90 catches, but only 42% of those catches resulted in a first down. There are lofty projections out there for Robinson. Spotrac has him getting $15 million a year, but that’s a lot for someone with nine career touchdowns on 389 targets.

Prediction: Signs with Titans

Unlike the Giants, the Titans are loaded with cap space this offseason, so they can afford to take a gamble on paying Robinson big money.

Tennessee also has the motivation to make this kind of signing.

That’s because, also like the Giants, the Titans need to add more help for their young franchise quarterback, Cam Ward.

Tennessee’s top receiver, Calvin Ridley, has been a major disappointment and we would not rule out the Titans cutting him, which would make their wide receiver situation even more dire.

Outside of Ridley, the Titans have young, unproven playmakers in guys like Elic Aymanor and Chimere Dike. Even if Ridley stays, Tennessee needs more help.

While we’d love to see the Titans go bigger and bring in a true No. 1 wide receiver to help out Ward, signing someone like Robinson would be a decent consolation prize if that kind of splash just isn’t available to them.
