The A.J. Brown trade rumors won’t go away.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, many high-level NFL executives expect the Eagles to entertain trade offers for their star wide receiver this offseason.
“Something has to give,” Fowler said on ESPN’s morning show “Get Up” on Thursday. “That’s sort of the feeling right now. They can build around (wide receiver) DeVonta Smith and some other pieces. (Running back) Saquon (Barkley). Maybe add another wide receiver. (Brown) would create a haul for the Eagles if they do go that route.”
During his appearance on “The Edge” with NFL star Micah Parsons at the Super Bowl last week, Brown called Philadelphia his home and appeared to be in a good mood after a frustrating season. But many don’t buy his words.
Unhappy with his role in the offense this past season, Brown dropped critic statements on social media, called the offense a “s—show” during a Madden stream and openly spoke about his frustrations with reporters. During the final two months of the season, he stopped speaking to the media.
Since the beginning of the 2025 season, Brown has been at the center of trade rumors and reports.
Brown was targeted seven times in Philadelphia’s first-round playoff loss to the 49ers last month. He caught three passes for 25 yards, with several drops.
Brown faced criticism throughout the season for poor blocking effort and concentration drops. He finished the year with 78 catches for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns.
If Brown is cut or traded with a post-June 1 designation, his dead cap hit will be hefty — $45 million if cut, $16 million if traded, according to Over The Cap. Still, that won’t preclude the Eagles from trading him.
Philadelphia could potentially acquire a first- or second- round pick for the three-time All-Pro.
