A longtime respected NFL assistant, Bevell brings a wealth of experience to Dave Canales’ staff as Carolina aims to take the next step.

Carolina has not made any coaching changes this offseason. Bevell will now step in to assist in helping the Carolina Panthers franchise.

Darrell Bevell’s Coaching History

Bevell brings decades of experience to the Carolina Panthers. He spent the past four seasons as the quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator of the Miami Dolphins.

“Bevell, 56, brings over three decades of NFL experience to the Panthers’ staff. That includes three seasons as an NFL QB coach, 15 seasons as an offensive coordinator, and parts of two seasons as an interim head coach.” Andrew Buller-Russ wrote in a Sportsnaut article.

Darrell Bevell won a Super Bowl as the offensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks in 2014. The Seahawks defeated the Denver Broncos 43-8 in Super Bowl XLVIII. Dave Canales and Darrell Bevell will now reunite in Carolina.

“His pro journey began with the Green Bay Packers in 2000, when he was hired as their assistant quarterbacks coach. He’d later be promoted to quarterbacks coach in 2003.” Anthony Rizzuti wrote in a Panthers Wire article.

“Bevell then became the Minnesota Vikings‘ offensive coordinator in 2006. He lasted five seasons there before taking up the same post with the Seattle Seahawks between 2011 and 2017, where he’d cross paths with current Panthers head coach Dave Canales.”

With Bevell’s experience as a QB coach, he will have an opportunity to help and develop Bryce Young. Young threw for 3,011 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2025. After taking a step forward in 2025, many will wonder how Bevell will contribute to Young’s success as a quarterback.

“Bevell has experience working in several different offensive schemes, and he’ll be able to use his expertise to see if he can help Carolina’s scoring offense improve too.” Buller-Russ wrote in the Sportsnaut article.

After his Seahawks stint, Bevell has picked up positions as the offensive coordinator and interim head coach for the Detroit Lions as well as the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Bevell Joins Promising Carolina Panthers Squad

Bevell’s position as associate head coach and offensive coordinator means he will work with a talented Carolina Panthers offense.

His experience with Tua Tagovailoa and Russell Wilson will make him well equipped to work with Bryce Young. Tetairoa McMillan, one of Young’s top targets, claimed the Offensive Rookie of the year award after his impressive rookie season. McMillan beat out finalists Tyler Shough (QB, Saints), TreVeyon Henderson (RB, Patriots), Jaxson Dart (QB, Giants), and Emeka Egbuka (WR, Buccaneers).

The rookie wideout finished the season with 70 receptions for 1,014 yards. He scored seven touchdowns, which was the most receiving touchdowns by a rookie in the 2025 season.

Darell Bevell will have the opportunity to excel with a franchise quarterback in Bryce Young and a future #1 wideout in Tetairoa McMillan. Bevell can be expected to be a valuable asset to the Carolina Panthers’ future.
