The Minnesota Vikings are seeing several QBs emerge as potential targets in the speculation mill. One player who could be a possibility for Minnesota is Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray.

On Feb. 8, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero floated Kyler Murray’s name as a realistic option for the Vikings should the Cardinals decide to cut him, and he’s available via free agency.

“The Vikings have not yet made a decision exactly what they’re going to do with their quarterback room, but they are expected to bring in a veteran to compete with J.J. McCarthy. It’s very early in that process,” Pelissero said on “NFL Gameday.”

“The Vikings just fired their GM a week or so ago here, but it’s not hard to figure out who some of the potential fits could be. Mac Jones in a trade would be a pretty expensive move. If Geno Smith or Kyler Murray become available via release, those could be options for Minnesota.”

Amid a link to the Vikings, ESPN’s Field Yates believes that Murray would benefit from a change of scenario.

“He’s got plenty of talent,” Yates said on the Feb. 12 edition of “NFL Live.” “There was a year in which it was past the halfway point, and we were talking about Kyler Murray as the MVP frontrunner. Let’s be clear, though, this feels like one where a change of scenery is best for all parties involved. Kyler, I think, would be happier with an opportunity to restart his career somewhere else.”

Is Cardinals QB Kyler Murray a Fit for Minnesota?

Since entering the league in 2019, Murray has spent seven seasons with the Cardinals. During that time, Murray has thrown for 20,460 yards and 121 touchdowns, per StatMuse. Additionally, Murray has earned two Pro Bowl selections and was named Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Although Murray has talent and is a former No. 1 overall pick, former Vikings linebacker Ben Leber has his doubts about whether the Cardinals standout would be a fit in Minnesota.

“A lot of veterans will be able to come in and provide competition and most need a change of scenery,“ Leber wrote on X on Feb. 12. “I haven’t heard one analyst talk about how Kyler is a good fit for KOC. I’d like to hear a convincing argument ‘how‘ this could make sense.”

Vikings Insider Doesn’t Hold Back on Kyler Murray

On the Feb. 10 edition of The Alec Lewis Show, Alec Lewis of The Athletic shared his take on Murray and whether the former top pick would be a fit in Minnesota.

“Kyler Murray, for me, just strictly on raw talent alone, he’s probably a notch above Mac [Jones],“ Lewis said. “But you’re dealing with a lot of dynamics with Kyler where, does he see the field maybe as well as Mac? I’m not so sure.

“Is the arm strength comparable to Mac? Probably. He can make more happen with his legs, but he’s had durability concerns himself. Is he as stable in the pocket as a guy like Mac, Kirk Cousins, or Derek Carr? Or even Geno [Smith] maybe? That’s probably a fair question.”
