Per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Kansas City Chiefs were set to meet with Travis Kelce about the tight end’s future in the league for 2026 after Sunday’s Super Bowl.

Kelce, 36, saw decreased production last season. He finished with 76 receptions for 851 yards and five touchdowns in 2026. His 76 receptions were 21 fewer than the 97 he had in 2024.
Earlier this offseason, the Chiefs moved on from offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, who recently became the offensive coordinator for the New York Giants. Kansas City head coach Andy Reid brought back Eric Bieniemy to become the offensive coordinator for 2026.

There’s a possibility the Chiefs made that move to make Kelce happy.
Per Jesse Palmer of The Athletic’s “Scoop City” podcast on Thursday, there has been league chatter that the Chiefs brought back Bieniemy to fix problems with the offense, like not featuring Kelce enough in big moments.
“I’m interested in the return of Eric Bieniemy,” Palmer said. “Talking to some people around the league this past week, it was ‘Maybe we stalled out for a few different reasons as an offense in Kansas City, and EB might be able to change some of those.’
“And one of the things that I was told was maybe there were opportunities where Travis Kelce should have been still the main target or the priority within the progression in some of these times. And maybe they moved a little too far away.”
During his introductory news conference, Bieniemy told reporters he planned to focus on the running game after seeing how Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson schemed the offense last season when he worked as the running backs coach.
“We’re going to make sure we can do the things we can do best,” Bieniemy said. “Have I been exposed to a number of run schemes? Yes. We need to find what we do best.”
Another thing Bieniemy saw Johnson do was scheme his tight ends. Bears rookie tight end Colston Loveland led the team in receiving yards in the regular season.
Maybe he can get Kelce back on track for the final act of his career.
