One of the biggest names in the New Orleans Saints’ recent history could be on the move this offseason. While there appears to be mutual interest in a return, finances and future roles will play a large part in the future of linebacker Demario Davis and the Saints. One team, in particular, may pose the biggest threat to New Orleans keeping Davis in the building.

Former Saints head coach Dennis Allen made waves with the Chicago Bears as the team’s defensive coordinator last year. While his club ranked No. 23 as a scoring defense and No. 29 in total yards allowed, it topped the NFL with 33 turnovers.

Inconsistent in some places, Allen’s group was impressively consistent when it came to taking the ball away. In order to boost productivity elsewhere, plugging in a veteran leader like Davis might be a worthwhile pursuit.

The Bears don’t have much salary cap space to play with at the moment, hovering just about the Saints with a $5.3 million overage, per OverTheCap.com. But after a few restructures, the Bears will likely be right back in the game to spend money this offseason in an attempt to build upon its 11-6, Divisional Round finish from 2025.

Davis could be a perfect, experienced addition to help lead some of the developing pieces along the Bears’ defensive depth chart.

FOX Sports’ Greg Auman has already predicted that the Bears will steal Davis away. New Orleans would be wise to keep the linebacker around. But the club is sure to have some challengers in the process should Davis get the chance to test the open market first.
