In the coming days, I’ll be doing brief synopses for each NFL team regarding their current cap situation and offseason approach they should take.

We’ll start with the teams that have the most cap space available, then work our way down to those teams who have less cap space, to those who have work to do to gain cap space.

Each synopsis will look at cap space (or how much over the cap), players under contract, total draft picks, any players with a fifth-year option decision ahead and notes about the most notable free agent, the most likely player cut and the quarterback situation.

In this installment, we’ll look at the Los Angeles Rams.

Players under contract for 2026: 52

Projected cap space: $42.4M

Total draft picks: Nine (No. 13 and No. 29 in first)

Most notable free agent: Kamren Curl

Most likely roster cut: Darious Williams

Fifth-year option decision: Emmanuel Forbes

Quarterback situation: Matthew Stafford announced that he will be back for 2026, meaning he’ll be the starter again.

The ideal offseason approach:

The Rams are in position to take a big swing in free agency. They could use their available cap space to either bring back a couple of their own players, with Curl among those they could retain

Because the Rams have two first-round picks, it would not surprise if they traded one of them for an impact player, possibly a pass rusher if any become available in trade. They will no doubt want to try for one more Super Bowl before Stafford calls it a career.

And even with Stafford returning, it wouldn’t hurt for the Rams to draft a quarterback at some point. Their draft should be as much about building with an eye toward the future as much as it would be about finding immediate help for a Super Bowl run.
