The Jacksonville Jaguars are predicted to sign a familiar face for head coach Liam Coen in free agency.
Greg Auman of FOX Sports recently compiled his list of the top 100 NFL free agents and then predicted where each would sign.

But there was also one non-Jaguars player that Auman predicted to sign with Jacksonville this offseason — tight end Cade Otton.
“The Bucs have precious little else at the position, so if they let him walk rather than pay $8 million a year or more, they’d have to invest in a proper replacement, either in free agency with limited options or in the draft. Jacksonville?” Auman wrote. “A Liam Coen reunion might make sense.”
Coen was Otton’s offensive coordinator in Tampa Bay for the 2024 season. During his career with the Bucs, Otton has been a consistent presence within that offense, which includes having 80-plus targets in each of the last three seasons and totaling at least 570 receiving yards.

Tight end is a sneaky need for the Jaguars. Quintin Morris is a free agent, while Johnny Mundt and Hunter Long are each in the final year of their rookie deals.
However, while signing Otton would be a fun addition on paper, this doesn’t seem like a move the Jaguars would make. Otton is someone who will play a fairly prominent role in an offense, and the Jaguars already have Brenton Strange on the roster.
Coen likes to utilize two tight-end sets, but there aren’t enough snaps to go around for both Strange and Otton. The Jaguars — as they should — remain committed to Strange and what he can provide this offense with his do-it-all skill set.
