The New Orleans Saints, for the first time since Drew Brees was quarterbacking the team, have finally found their long-term answer at QB.
Tyler Shough, after an impressive rookie season, is the starter going forward. While the ceiling and true potential of Shough are still unknown, he’s shown enough to be the starter. He’s been the best since Brees, better than Derek Carr, who might unretire.
Carr has thrown around the idea of coming out of retirement, but the terms were unknown. But now, the Saints and the rest of the league know what it would take for Carr to unretire.
Based on his prerequisites, Carr might not be coming out of retirement.

Derek Carr reveals what it would take to come out of retirement
“Would I do it? Yes. Would I do it for anybody? Absolutely not,” Carr said during his Home Grown with David and Derek Carr podcast. “Would I do it? Absolutely, I would. I told you two things: I have to be healthy, and I’d want a chance to win a Super Bowl. And, obviously, that’s a tough thing to find. That’s hard to do. That’s not easy.”
Carr, to come out of retirement, wants to land with a new team that would give him a chance to be a starter and lead them to the Super Bowl.
A Super Bowl contender willing to trade assets to the Saints to acquire Carr (since the Saints own his contract rights) would be hard to find.
If there were one team that might be willing to take a chance on Carr, assuming he’s healthy, it would be the Minnesota Vikings.

J.J. McCarthy hasn’t looked good in his NFL action, and the Saints have a good enough defense to win the Super Bowl.
Competent quarterback play could give the Vikings a path to the Super Bowl. Carr doesn’t want to simply come out of retirement to play football; he wants to chase a Super Bowl.
The Vikings might be the best option for Carr this offseason, but not only does he need to be healthy to play after a year away from the game, but that team, whether it’s the Vikings or some other contender in need of a quarterback, needs to have interest in him.
Even though Carr has floated the idea of coming out of retirement, the chances he does play in the NFL again look slim based on the two criteria he set in order to unretire.
