The Denver Broncos are entering an offseason with a clear goal of bolstering the offense to return to the AFC Championship. Adding a better backup quarterback is a need, but the Broncos need better starters as well.

An elite wide receiver could be on the table, as could a new tight end. But the running back room is the most important one for the Broncos this offseason, as RJ Harvey cannot be relied upon to lead an RB room on his own.

J.K. Dobbins is a free agent, and the Broncos might simply bring him back. But, as Dalton Wasserman of PFF.com links, the Broncos could look for a better game-changing back in Seattle Seahawks free agent and playoff hero, Kenneth Walker III.

Broncos linked to Kenneth Walker as Dobbins replacement

“Seattle will almost certainly make Walker’s retention a priority, but a team like the Denver Broncos could change the complexion of their offense with him in the fold,” Wasserman writes.

Walker is a much more explosive running back than Dobbins. Adding Walker to replace Dobbins will cost the Broncos a bit more money than simple re-sigining Dobbins, but it would be worth it.

Few running backs have done what Walker did, winning Super Bowl MVP for his team. It was the first time since Terrell Davis did it for the Broncos during their Super Bowl run in 1997.

While Walker hasn’t put up the ridiculous statistics that Davis has, Walker is a great option for the Broncos to bring into their offense and pair with Harvey.

Seattle will likely try to ensure Walker doesn’t leave, whether that’s with an extension before free agency or a franchise tag. But if he does hit the open market, the Broncos should strongly pursue Walker.

He would be the explosive, play-making running back the Broncos have been lacking. With such a good offensive line, the running back play in Denver needs to be better.

And what better way to improve such a unit than adding Walker, who just won Super Bowl MVP, and put together an overall massive season as he heads to free agency.
