We are still a month away from the start of NFL free agency and we have already been inundated with reports and rumors over which veteran quarterback the Minnesota Vikings will add to their roster next to third-year QB JJ McCarthy.

The intrigue is obvious. Fixing the quarterback room was Kevin O’Connell’s No. 1 priority entering the offseason. So now that Brian Flores is locked in on an expensive long-term deal and Kwesi Adofo-Mensah is out as general manager — finding a reliable QB has become the sole focus of this organization and its fanbase.

Unlike last year’s QB search, “all bets are off” this time around. Not only are the Minnesota Vikings open to whatever quarterback opportunities might present themselves over the next few months, but according to reports, they plan on swinging big and swinging aggressively.

All available quarterbacks want to play for the Minnesota Vikings

Of course, it takes two to tango. But if you ask Jeremy Fowler (ESPN), that shouldn’t be a problem. Friday on NFL Live, the locally-rooted insider reported that top quarterbacks across the league — who are either on the market already or expected to be there at some point this offseason — all want to play for the MN Vikings.

Just now on NFL Live @JFowlerESPN reports: “All the top quarterbacks that will be or could be available” want to land with the Vikings.

“My sense right now, from asking around, is that all the top quarterbacks that will be or could be available — Kyler Murray, Geno Smith comes to mind — [Minnesota] is the place they want to go…because of what you have with Justin Jefferson, Kevin O’Connell, a lot of pieces in place.”

Jeremy Fowler – NFL Live

Fowler’s report on NFL Live today came on the heels of his colleague at ESPN, former NFL GM Mike Tannenbaum, drafting Kyler Murray for the MN Vikings — out of the pool of expected to be available quarterbacks, which also included Aaron Rodgers, Derek Carr, Mac Jones and Tua Tagovailoa, among many others.

Vikings could get legitimate QB redo

The first part of this clip doesn’t really matter. Tannenbaum may like Kyler Murray in purple (and he isn’t the only one) but he isn’t dialing up front offices from his rolodex and basing his “predictions” from Friday on things that might actually happen.

What matters is Fowler’s report. Because there’s no doubt the quarterbacks available to the Minnesota Vikings this offseason are inferior to the QBs they played games with last year (Sam Darnold, Daniel Jones, one-year younger Aaron Rodgers), before settling on JJ McCarthy.

However, it’s good to know that whichever quarterback Kevin O’Connell ultimately pursues — the Vikings won’t have to convince him to come here.
